by admin in Animals
Smart species living on Earth
The Chimp, Dolphins and Elephants

The first three animals in the list are the Chimpanzee, Dolphins and Elephants. Chimpanzee is in the number one spot. Indeed, this is the smartest; it has the ability to learn by the use symbols. They also understand certain aspects of human language like numbers and numerical sequence as well as some relational syntax. It has been tested that chimps have better memory and are capable of hunting for food, and capable of solving problems. The second on the spot is Dolphins. They are considered very sociable animals. They lived in pods with several others and communicate using a variety of whistles, clicks and other vocalizations. Interestingly, they can sleep with only one brain hemisphere in slow-wave sleep at a time, which means they have the ability to keep half of their brain awake and the other half asleep to protect themselves against predators and other threats. And the third on the spot is the Elephants. This large mammal is really amazing. They are known to be loyal and loving creatures. In Asian culture, elephants are regarded as the symbol of wisdom. It has been proven that they have good memory and possess intelligence; they seem to remember almost everything. They can remember migratory paths and know where to find food and follow landmarks. They have emotions too… they cry, work, play, laugh and use tools from their environment.
Other smart animals
The next choices go to Rhesus Monkey, African Grey Parrot, Rats, Crows and Raven, Ants, Whales and Dogs. We all know that dogs are man’s best friend. Dogs have the ability to think, learn and solve problems. They can learn tricks and learn commands very easily. Dogs can communicate with each other and other animals in many ways through sounds (barkings) and use of body language.

The Animal Rights National Conference has initiated some moves by awarding movement leaders, exceptional activists and celebrities who help protect animals. They are also presenting an award to the best animal protection campaign program. Recently, the Animal Rights 2011 National Conference converged in Los Angeles to discuss on animal rights. Animal Rights 2011 is a forum for sharing knowledge, reporting on progress, discussing strategies and tactics, networking, and “recharging our batteries” concerning animal protection. Almost a thousand of animal activists and other caring people joined the conference.
Animal Protection Campaigns
Many environmentalist groups and animal advocates adopt programs aimed to protect animals. Some of these campaigns had been widely accepted and the impact had been beneficial to impart awareness to the general public. One of which is the Sea Shepherd’s Operation Musashi, the name was chosen to reflect Sea Shepherd’s approach of aggressive, non-violent, confrontation and the increasing global awareness of illegal whaling activities. This also increases global campaign to protect creatures in the Antarctic waters. To clarify issues, Sea Shepherd is not a protest organization. It was established in 1977 to get involved against illegal exploitation of marine life in accordance with the principles of the United Nations World Charter for Nature.
Legislative measures
All over the world, there are various legislations enacted to protect animals. These are laws that define endangered or threatened species, put plants and invertebrates under protection, and encourages inpiduals, organizations and programs to conserve important habitats and to care for the environment. There are also laws which directly protect endangered species by giving penalties for the hunting, maltreatment and abuse of endangered species.
